The Stands Virus Theory
One of the more recent and lucid theories is of the Stands Virus. The theory is that a highly infectious mutated rabies virus swept the globe in 2014 (0 A.F.) and triggered the collapse of global society. It was named either after patient zero or the creator of the first vaccine though some particularly deluded individuals claim that they are indeed the same person.
The theory is that the first outbreak was in Louisiana and the contagion fanned out from there across the whole globe. It put huge pressure on existing geo-political fault lines as desperate governments acted in even more desperate ways. European and Asian nations launched nuclear strikes on the heavily infected USA triggering automated retaliatory strikes and so on...
The crucial element of the Stands Virus Theory is that everyone born after the Fall or that even survived it has a natural immunity to the Virus and worst still, they are all carriers. Should an isolated community be found, on say a remote island, then as soon as they made contact with ‘modern’ people they would immediately become infected.
The Stands Virus Theory is popular in the Gadsden Co-Prosperity Region where Doctor Stands is seen as a cultural icon and hero. Not so many other people believe in this extravagant theory.
