The Batus

The Batus are an extended family clan of mercenaries descended from foreign solders that were  based in North America at the time of the Fall.  They have migrated south from the Canadian Praries and settled in Montana where they provide security and order for local communities while allowing companies to be hired out as mercenaries. Only those who are of the “Blood of the Batus”, or in others words a descendants of the soldiers, may serve with the ‘regulars’ but promising local recruits may join the ‘territorials’ and serve as auxiliaries. Heroic ‘territorials’ may be allowed to marry in to a family and their children would be viewed as ‘regulars’.

There are several family regiments within the Batus that make up the greater clan, with each led by a Colonel. Each has its own traditions and titles that are scrupulously followed by the members though loyalty to the Batus is paramount. The family regiments appoint the clan leader with the title of  Lord-Brigadier who must be a proven warrior of great skill and cunning. Along with fighting skills, technical knowledge is highly appreciated as the Batus strive to keep their relic arms, armour and equipment fully functioning.
