Anglo-Celtic Confederation
The period commonly referred to as the Fall was a traumatic time for all and the Irish and British Isles did not escape this. The Stands Virus spread rapidly in Britain with central government collapsing and regional powers replacing it. The British devolved nations took the lead while some regions, like Cornwall, set themselves up as separate states. Ireland was luckier and was able to limit the spread but still larger cities like Dublin and Cork were overwhelmed with the infected.
A proto-type vaccine was found to miraculously work and mass production began in Northern England which spread across the UK and Ireland. The military, police and then the public were vaccinated allowing the halting of the spread of the infected but still society came close to collapse. Nine years after the Fall the factions met to discuss co-operation and to avoid war and conflict. The new English Government had been aggressively absorbing many of the petty kingdoms by drawing on old stockpiles of Pre-Fall weaponry and equipment. Ireland had faired best of all the states but was very wary of England’s re-emergence and called upon the other ‘Celtic Nations’ to stand with her; it worked. Ireland and Scotland had forced a compromise out of England fearing a return to old rivalries.
The Anglo-Celtic Accords agreed boundaries between the states and avoided a long and bloody war. England regained all of its territory with the exception of Cornwall which became a client with time anyway. Ireland officially absorbed Ulster as a semi-autonomous zone while Scotland and Wales were recognised as free and independent countries. The Isle of Man became the headquarters of the Confederation due to its central location and strict neutrality. Scotland and Ireland tend to mutually support each other while Cornwall and Wales tend to align with England which financially supports them in turn. The Isle of Man is pleased with its prominent position as Confederation Capital. Each of the states sets out its own domestic policies with care not to clash with other members but when this happen a vote takes place at the Confederation Council at Douglas on the Isle of Man. To the surprise of all it worked and has lasted over 80 years.
