The Purifying Church of Stands the Cleanser
Common
ly known as Standsism, the Purifying Church of Stands the Cleanser is a post-apocalyptic faith based around the worship of Doctor Jerimiah Stands, from whom the Stands Virus was given its name.
In the book of Jerimiah it states that, “The world had become weak and burdened with those weak of body, spirit and mind. Wise Jerimiah knew that this could and should not be so and he made the great cleanser, the great plague hat would sort the wheat from the chaff and the lambs from the goats. He set loose his work upon the world and saw that it reaped a fine harvest leaving only those fit to live and fit to rule.”

In the post-Fall world it was easy for some to turn their backs on their old faiths but also easy for others to twist their old beliefs in to something darker. Some felt God had left them behind as unworthy, that the good where in heaven and that the Devil now ruled on earth. Some like abandoned dogs looked for new masters.
The Universal Resurrected Church of the Old World Comforter
This is a classic old school UFO cult operating out of the Museum of Space History in the suburbs of Alamogordo. It believes that a spiritual comet will soon pass by the earth and that the true believers of the Universal Resurrected Church of the Old World Comforter will be transported to the space ship hidden behind the comet while the rest of the world will be destroyed. True believers give all their possessions to the cult and undergo the Ceremony of Understanding, allegedly very similar to a lobotomy, after which they are much calmer. Several hundred true believers exist in the Alamogordo area but many missionaries have gone forth to spread the news.
