Character Creation

There are several suggested steps before creating your character and some of them are pretty obvious but please do bear with us:

Where is your character from?

Is she/he from a rural isolated community with good survival skills but a poor grasp of technology? Or from an urban environment with poor practical skills? Maybe a mixture?

He/se needs ot be part of or aligned with the  Texican Republic.

What do they do?

Are they a tracker, a hunter, a mechanic, a soldier or something else?

What is their backstory?

Sorry but a background is essential.

Nuts & bolts bascis

Player characters will start as experienced  with 38xps

All players will start with a side arm (any revolver up to .45 calibre for Texans), a long arm (.30 hunting rifle, shotgun or Winchester style repeater) long arm and melee weapon (Sabre, axe etc.). Anything high-tech , as in post-1950s),will need to be agreed prior to their playing.

Language rules

Each character is fluent in the native language.

Other languages may be spoken at:

D4 – Workable tourist level with a basic grasp but able to have a conversation. All persuasion and intimidation etc. at -2.

D6 – Fluency in the language with the PC able to converse freely. No minuses to interaction but the speaker is obviously not a native speaker.

D8 – Mastery of the language spoken like a native.

Each character may then spend their Smarts dice in other languages if they wish. So a PC with smarts of D8 has three language slots (D4, D6 & D8) but may chose to speak less languages but to a higher standard.  So they may have 3 tongues at a D4, two with one at D4 and the other at D6 or just one at D8.
